Hi! My name is Allison Gibson. This is my first blog post, and at the start of 2027, I will be going on my first mission trip.
Some information about me
I live in North Carolina with my mom, dad, three sisters, and one brother. I graduated from an early college high school this year with my associate in arts. Some things I enjoy doing are baking, watching movies (I particularly love old animation), and going to thrift stores. The first time I seriously considered going on an international mission trip was in early 2025 after my family got to visit my sister during her 9-month mission trip in Guatemala. Over the course of a week, our family got to experience what it was like to be a part of the missionary team there, and it was one of the most exciting weeks of my life. Since then, going on an overseas mission trip has been something that has been on my mind until I finally applied this summer.
What led me to apply?
After I graduated high school, I still was unsure of what I wanted to do going forward. I wasn’t going straight to college because I didn’t know what I wanted to major in. In June, I went to a church camp with my youth group called Crowders Ridge. One night, they asked that anyone who had a heart for international missions would come onto the stage. I went up, and my youth pastor was able to pray over me. That night, I was sure that I was being called to international missions. Not too long after, I signed up to go on a trip with World Race across Central America.
Trip information
The trip lasts from January 17th to May 12th, 2027, and I will be traveling to Brazil, Costa Rica, and Jamaica. I will get the opportunity to spread the gospel, form relationships, provide disaster relief, help communities, and grow in my own relationship with the Lord through this mission. The total cost of the trip is $7,795, due by January 17th, which will cover the cost of travel, meals, insurance, and housing.
If you would like to support me, you can do so first and foremost through prayer for the fundraising process, and for my team’s and my wisdom, boldness, and safety throughout the trip. If you feel led to support financially, you can do so through this link:
Thank you for taking the time to read about my trip and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Allison Gibson :)
